Importance of staying organized

So the title alone should be enough right. Really why even write or show pictures of something that should be so obvious that others would laugh at waisting time to do this article. Fact….It is far important than it is obvious. Fact….I don’t know why that is but it is. At any rate, “A home for everything, and everything in its home”. Your life will be so much easier on setup and pack up days if you know where to look and how to pack. Camping is a lifestyle of limited space, and every square inch is vitally important.

Every travel trailer, 5th wheel and Rv are different in layout and storage options. So every time you have a new rig it requires some creative thoughts when storing everything. The pictures included are simply from our current trailer. Like I said every trailer gets some different treatments but the important thing is, everything has a home. The last trailer I set up for a friend had a lot of cabinets since it had huge, gapping empty cabinet space. It also had a rediculous open space from the front compartment to up under the bed. Pass. I put in a wall, divided and caulked the space off in that trailer gaining front space and interior living storage instead some hodge podge mess.

Our front compartment when ready for transport looks overwhelming to some, but it is carefully placed items in a certain order that comes out and goes back in with ease and order. Every time, every trip, the same process is followed and we know exactly where everything goes. Makes it less stressful, faster when setting up and quick when packing up. You will notice how much stuff comes out and still how much is still inside. We can get to anything and everything with ease.

Primary tool kit, also carry a meter, and drill and some other odds and ends
tiki candles stored for travel
flag and accent lights
cooler never moves from this spot, works great for us right here

Inside is just as important. With a few modifications, you can store so much more. That doesn’t mean overload your trailer, it simply means store what you already want in some manner of order. Remember this too, when setting things up, account for how they will travel. After all, roads are not exactly friendly, so make sure when you store something it will be safe in that position. No body wants things shifting or breaking.

add some shelves in the pantry
lower pantry with some adds for better storage
more added shelves and compartment brackets
This was just a panel, cut it out and made a door
The door is for the goodies.
command hooks work great
Wall is to thin here for nice hooks but command to the rescue
Good divider under the bed never hurt
Little upgrade for kids bunks
Added a rail and some sanding on the back, got the silverware tray in
No lost keys
Upgrade the bathroom every time
We never leave the factory faucet in
Added shelf under kitchen sink

As you can see everything has a place. Just make sure it is all secured when you are ready to roll. The shelf to the left, all soaps and candles.

These are just relatively simple upgrades for us that make our journeys that much more enjoyable. We aren’t full timing just yet but we can pull out anytime within an hour and not worry about forgetting much of anything. Top off the food supply and clothes and roll.

One added shelf, one added keeper rail above

Key to relaxing is staying organized. That and each person having specific things they do when setting up and packing up. We aren’t tripping on each other or waiting on the other. Just knocking it out so we can flop in our chairs, enjoy the fire and raise our glasses, or cans, or something…..
